Curriculum Intent
Our curriculum is rooted in gospel values and the teachings of Jesus Christ and in the community we serve. As a Catholic school, RE is a core subject and all pupils spend 10 per cent of their curriculum allocation in RE. For post-16, students spend 5 per cent of their curriculum allocation studying Core RE.
The primary aim of the curriculum at Bishop Walsh Catholic School is summarised by our mission statement: Guided by Christ, we aspire to achieve. Our vision is that all students should have the opportunity to attend top universities or embark on high-level apprenticeships and we believe the best way to do this is to offer a curriculum that:
• supports students’ academic success by promoting knowledge-based learning;
• is academically rigorous and challenging;
• is broad and balanced offering both breadth and depth
• promotes students’ social, moral, spiritual, vocational and cultural development via our details SAINT programme
